PERSSE WILLIAM TODMAN DE BURGH
Persse William Todman De Burgh was born at “Cosford House” Hectorville South Australia on the 19th February 1894. He was the son of John William Dudley De Burgh, a public servant, and Charlotte Mary Bradshaw De Burgh, nee Todman.
After the death of his father in Bombay on April 16th 1906, at the age of 39 years, he and his sister along with their mother moved into “Oamaru” the house of their Uncle, their mother’s brother. “Oamaru” had been offered, by his mother, to be used as a hospital for returned soldiers. Persse’s sister was Constance De Burgh. She married Reginald Henry Mowat, who was to become a Director and General Manager of Leo Buring wines in Sydney.
Persse served in the 5th machine gun Battalion. He enlisted on November 15th 1915, and embarked from Melbourne Victoria, on board HMAT A17 Port Lincoln on May 4th 1916. He was discharged on his return to Australia, on the 2nd October 1919.

He was married to Catherine Frances La Franke, and died at his home, 144 North Road Brighton Victoria, in 1952.
Persse William Todman De Burgh is remembered on the Campbelltown Soldiers' Memorial.

Persse had three children. Noel de Burgh, Frances Una deburgh and Peggy Wilma deburgh.
Noel had 5 children and Peggy had 6 children.
I am his grand daughter.
