Roy Bolto's service
Roy Bolto enlisted in July 2015 - assigned to the 32nd Battalion. Returned to Australia in August 2019. During the operations of this Battalion near BELLICOURT between 29th September/1st October 1918 Sergeant BOLTO displayed in the highest degree, gallantry, courage and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. throughout the advance set a splendid example to his men and greatly inspired them in their dangerous enterprise. On two separate occasions he volunteered to take parties out into the open under heavy shell and Machine Gun fire. Both these efforts were entirely successful and it was no doubt due to his initiative and skill that several lives were saved. In his work as Platoon Sergeant he was untiring and prevented casualties on numerous occasions by his masterly management of his men.'
