Private George Stanley Clayton, was born at Meadows, South Australia, on 11 January 1896. He enlisted at Adelaide on 7 January 1916 and served with the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion. He was wounded in action in France on 4 February 1917 and again on 14 October 1917. He returned to Australia in 1919.
