Campbelltown Soldier WW1
HALFORD JOHN LOCKWOOD
Halford John Lockwood Reg. No. 1101 was the son of John Fenn Halford Lockwood and Jemima nee Renfrey. He was born in Oaklands South Australia on 24th November 1892. At the time of his enlistment his address was Thorndon Park Reservoir. Next of kin was listed as his sister, Florence Lockwood of Hindmarsh Island near Goolwa, South Australia.
He joined the 3rd Light Horse Regiment and sailed for Egypt on board HMAT Kanowna A61 on 23rd of June 1915. The Red Cross in Adelaide received a letter from a W.A. McDonald, asking for an address to be able to contact their friend, which was answered.
After serving in Egypt, he returned home to Adelaide on 4th May 1919. On the return sea journey, he was treated in the ships hospital for Malaria. He died of natural causes in Bendigo, Victoria, on the 10th of July 1969 aged 76 years.
