This soldier's real name was James William Manning Begnell. He changed his name possibly to avoid child support payments for a child that he believed was not his. The matter went to court but he lost the case. He died on the 23rd August 1918 and is buried at Villers Bretonneux cemetery in norther France.

I would like to add information about my Great Uncle.

Dear Joseph,
You are welcome to add more information about James William Begnell as a comment on this record.
Kind regards
Joanna
