Henry Samuel Cope in photo, with wife Emmie Beatrice nee Altmann and children Marjorie Jean and Reginald Gordon. Lieutenant Henry Samuel Cope, born Mount Gambier, South Australia, 21 February 1882.Enlisted 25 March 1916. Promoted Captain 1 May 1916. Served France 43rd Battalion. Wounded in action 5 July 1917. Mentioned in despatch by Sir Douglas Haig, 8 November 1918. Awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous service, 1919. Returned to Australia 1919. Died South Australia, 11 January 1928.
